What we're about
::| Home of the L Train Brass Band |::
We're a growing community of second line brass band enthusiasts (brass, reeds, and drums) that meets most Sundays in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Our grassroots group also plays outdoor festivals, parades, parties, and other local gigs while covering a wide variety of music from pop, hip-hop, and funk to traditional Dixieland jazz to groundbreaking original charts!
Our community and its performance ensemble The L Train Brass Band is comprised of both experienced musicians and adventurous amateur players looking for something new and exciting in their musical lives. While you should have basic music-reading proficiency, we're open to all levels so long as you attend rehearsals regularly. There's plenty of room for creative collaboration and help with organizing practices, gigs, and arranging music. Let's grow together!
Our ensemble is comprised of trumpets, trombones, F horns/mellophone, clarinets, euphoniums, tubas, and drum line. While any of the above instrumentalists are welcome, we're in particular need of clarinets and low and middle brass. Simply request to join and RSVP to the next Meetup! The only instruments that require special consideration (and possibly an audition) are percussion/drums. Our rehearsal space is extremely sensitive to the loud nature of drums. If you wish to play in the LTBB drumline, please contact the organizers directly (https://www.meetup.com/NorthBrooklynBrass/members/?op=leaders).

Attendance policy: new members that are inactive for 30 days or longer will be automatically removed from the group. An inactive member refers to someone who has joined the group, but they have not RSVP'd and/or attended a meetup within 30 days and/or offers poor or no communication with the organizers. Consistent attendance and communication is paramount in our growth and fostering a fun and fulfilling experience for our active members (especially when it comes to planning performance opportunities). If you have been removed for attendance reasons, please rejoin when you have the time to commit to a regular rehearsal schedule.
