What we’re about

Brassless Chaps is an all queer, antifascist brass band based in Portland and we're looking for new people to join us! Any and all skill levels are welcome! Right now, we're in need of tuba, saxophone, and trombone players as well as drummers! All instruments are welcome, not just brass (we have woodwinds too)! There is no audition process or attendance expectations. Come when you can!

Brassless Chaps is a collaborative marching band that was formed to bring joy to our communities through music. Our vision is to play at community events, protests for causes we support, parades and festivals! We have a few songs in our repertoire right now that take inspiration from other brass bands, as well as popular songs from various music genres. We're always open to new suggestions and ideas!

We've been around since March 2022 and have so much fun getting to know one another at rehearsals. It's truly a space where queer people can come together to play music, laugh, create and form new friendships! We start rehearsals by introducing ourselves, names, pronouns and an ice breaker question of sorts. Then we play music! After that, we all hang out over snacks that people bring to share, discuss band matters and just get to know each other.

We also communicate via Slack—let us know and we'll share a link!

We'd love to have you join us! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions :)
