We'll be speaking to several entrepreneurs in the New Haven area to discuss the local startup ecosystem - opportunities for funding, synergies with local businesses, and ecosystem for talent.

Panelists:

David B Pearlstone MD MBA, CEO, DicomDirector

Dr. Pearlstone is the CEO of DICOMDirector, a digital imaging platform, developing 3D holographic imaging for healthcare. He has held a variety of leadership positions in academic surgery, and most recently was Executive Director of HealthHavenHub, an incubator for digital healthcare technologies in New Haven.
He graduated from Vanderbilt University, and New York University School of Medicine, training in general surgery at NYU and surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2010, Dr. Pearlstone received his MBA from the Leadership in Healthcare program at the Yale University School of Management.

Dr. Lisa Lancor, Professor of Computer Science at Southern Connecticut State University

Dr. Lisa Lancor is Professor and Chairperson of the Computer Science Department at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) in New Haven, CT. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Lisa is an active member of SCSU and the broader New Haven community as she strongly advocates for her students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. She is passionate about connecting emerging tech-talent with Connecticut companies. Lisa is an Executive Champion for the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and helps to lead SCSU’s NCWIT Pacesetter team in its goal of increasing the number of women and underrepresented minorities majoring in computer science. Her research interests include penetration testing & ethical hacking, user authentication in smartphones, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She is a member of IEEE and SIGCSE.

Tom Nassr, Co-Founder, Checkmate Digital

Tom is a co-founder and CEO at Checkmate Digital, a digital product studio in New Haven, Connecticut, focused on helping B2B SaaS companies design and build market-ready software. Tom specializes in product strategy, user experience, sprint planning, and problem-feature prioritization. With degrees in both Philosophy and Entrepreneurship from Quinnipiac University, he’s obsessed with the concepts of value and how digital products can solve complicated problems. Mike Kennedy, Director, Product Strategy at Green Check Verified, Inc.

Mike Kennedy is an entrepreneur and product leader in the regulatory technology (RegTech) space, providing businesses with innovative tools to manage compliance more efficiently. While earning his business degree from SCSU, Mike was able to tap into the New Haven start up ecosystem, and is proud to continue living and working in the city that’s presented him with great opportunities.
