Break to Innovate — de Lunchbreak

Break to Innovate — the Lunch Break

The latest news from the world of innovation, served with a tasty sandwich.

Every month, we spend an hour at lunch diving into what's happening in innovation — from robotics to the newest tech trends. Inspiring, current and to the point: a sharp story from someone right in the thick of it, followed by time for questions and networking.

Whether you work on campus, somewhere else in the region, or you're simply curious about what's happening in innovation — everyone's welcome. Come check out MICS, meet new people from the sector, and head back out inspired (and well-fed).

(Almost) every third Thursday of the month, from 12:00 to 13:00, Gemeente Schiedam / SchieDistrict and MICS organize a lunch break, with doors open from 11:45.

Break to Innovate — oktober:

Break to Innovate — October:
The Humanoid Is Coming – What Does That Mean for Manufacturing?
A robot that can work alongside people, use the same tools, and learn tasks instead of having to be reprogrammed for every individual operation. It may sound futuristic, but technology companies around the world are investing billions in humanoid robots. The first applications are now appearing on factory floors. For the Dutch manufacturing industry, which is facing labor shortages while also needing to become more productive and flexible, this could represent a fundamentally new form of automation.
During this lunch lecture, Evert Jaap Lugt, CEO of the Humanoid Application Center (HAC), will take you through the rapid development of humanoid robotics. What can these robots already do today—and, more importantly, what can’t they do yet? Which tasks in manufacturing are likely to be the first to benefit? And what will a factory look like where people, traditional robots, and humanoids work side by side? Not a distant vision of the future, but a practical look at the technology, applications, and opportunities of the coming years.
The question is not only whether humanoids will enter the factory, but which tasks we will give them first.
