What we’re about
July 27, 2025: New horizons for this beautiful group! Expanding to include events throughout the SF Bay Area, and now with a new organizer, Anu Brandt, who leads breathwork circles in San Francisco, Berkeley, Marin County, and soon to be on the Peninsula and South Bay. More information to come soon... Thanks for being here!
The Breathwork Events SF Bay Area (formerly Conscious Breathwork Circle SF Bay Area) is for anyone interested in self-exploration and transformation through breathwork journeys in a safe and supportive setting. Breathwork is a powerful way to release and integrate emotions and traumas, to access transformative, non-ordinary states of consciousness, and to rejuvenate and receive insights, healing, and inspiration.
What happens during breathwork sessions? Participants enter an expanded state of awareness with accelerated, connected deep breathing, and evocative music. In some sessions, toning/sound healing and/or body work are also included. Typical group sessions last anywhere from 45-120 minutes. Participants frequently experience physical release, getting in touch with and resolving emotions, and/or peak spiritual experiences.
For the session, please:
- (depending on venue) bring soft mat (a single-size cushioned mat like a blow-up camping pad are highly recommended so you'll be comfortable), blanket, water bottle, journal and/or sketchpad.
- be on time so we end on time
- dress in comfortable clothing
- eat only light food for the previous few hours or fast
- have an open mind and an open heart
Please note that everything shared during the sessions and sharing circle is confidential. No photos are to be taken without participants' consent.

See all- Somatic Breathwork (weekly)New Mission Yoga, San Francisco, CA
Offered every Wednesday evening!
Somatic Breathwork is an embodiment experience. It takes you out of your thinking mind and into your body. Whether you have been through high stress or traumatic events or not, this modality is a powerful tool. Everyday micro-stressors build up in our nervous system, and if we do not discharge this pressure from our body by expressing (ex-ing the pressure), then it can lead to suppression and eventually depression. Expression is our birthright, and it is the only way our bodies can complete the feedback loop of our physical experiences. Somatic Breathwork provides a safe container for full permission and expression so that the nervous system can work its way back to regulation and your authentic self can come forth.
Somatic Breathwork employs circular connected breathing coupled with rhythmic music to produce a cathartic emotional release. This release may be in the form of moving, shaking, yelling, crying, or laughing. All of these expressions are welcome. All of you is welcome during your session; no expression is right or wrong. Your body is simply moving it through you so that it may move out of you. Emotions = Energy in Motion.
Participants can expect to experience a powerful guided journey into their own psyche through deep, cyclical breathing which can evoke emotional releases and expressions. Through this, powerful healing will take place, allowing the participant to clear away the old and invite in the new.
More information and registration on the New Mission Yoga website.
Offered from $45.
Facilitated and hosted by Steve23 Sanchez (New Mission Yoga owner) and Michael Barrios (alternating Wednesdays)
Note: This event is not offered, hosted, or sponsored by "Breathwork Events SF Bay Area" or by Anu B. It is listed here as a service to this online breathwork community and to spread and share the healing medicine of breathwork far and wide!

- Radiant Heart Breathwork, Cacao, & Sound Healing CeremonyThe Castro Room, San Francisco, CA
Radiant Heart Breathwork, Cacao, & Sound Healing Ceremony for Gratitude & Celebration in San Francisco at The Castro Room with Anu Brandt and Brian Armstrong
Join Anu at one of San Francisco's most iconic yoga studios on the Saturday after Thanksgiving as he guides you in a sacred ceremony with three perfect ceremonial companions, breathwork, cacao, and sound healing. As a skilled shamanic practitioner experienced in ministering sacred plant medicine ceremonies, Anu treats this as a similarly sacred practice, giving it wings to support the clearing away of old energies, patterns, thoughts, and emotions, and removing our blocks to expanded perspectives, inner/higher guidance, self love and forgiveness, and personal clarity.
As with other plant medicine ceremonies, by engaging in an intentional, respectful, heart-felt practice with cacao, we invoke the benevolent spirit of the cacao plant to assist us through her sacred wisdom and divine intelligence. Cacao can provide ecstatic experiences as well as moments of relaxation, and can help to release inner blockages, opening our hearts and clearing pathways to personal harmony and peace.
We’ll be joined by the wonderful Brian Armstrong, who will be assisting during the ceremony and playing sound healing instruments to enhance our experience with frequency and harmonics.

The Castro Room websiteAbout Anu:
Anu is a Clarity Breathwork practitioner, Frequency Healing/Reiki Master, ordained minister, sound healer, certified somatic integration guide, founder of the Soul Unique Podcast to inspire the personal spiritual path, and also a professional singer and musician. He has trained with the indigenous Shipibo-Konibo in curanderismo and vegetalista practices in the Peruvian Amazon jungle, with The Foundation for Shamanic Studies, and with California Institute of Integral Studies. His calling to be of service to personal and planetary awakening, healing, and transformation is his most fervid endeavor. For more about Anu, visit his Hummingbird Circle website. How to Prepare:
Anu suggests you prepare yourself by coming to this sacred ceremony with an open mind and heart, as well as with strong and clear intentions for what you would like to receive or get out of your experience. Ideally, don't arrive with a full stomach; leave at least two hours between your last meal and our ceremony. What to Bring:
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. And, highly recommended: bring a comfortable, cushioned, single-size pad such as foam or blow-up camping pad. A yoga mat (or a few yoga mats stacked on top of each other) will do, but you’ll be lying on your back for the session, and having a comfortable pad to keep the floor from interfering with your process can make a difference. Also recommended: bring a bottle of water and an item of personal meaning to place on our ceremony altar.Health Notifications for Cacao and Breathwork:
Cacao is a high-quality, raw, and unprocessed chocolate sacramental drink used for spiritual purposes around the world, with origins in South America. Cacao is not recommended for people who are on above-average doses of antidepressants. Cacao increases blood flow to the brain and is a source of tryptophan, the precursor to serotonin; these can improve mental focus, mood, and your feeling of well-being. Breathwork is a powerful practice that creates subtle, temporary changes in our brain chemistry, enabling us to step into altered states of expanded awareness. If you have any history (current or past) of cardiovascular issues, mental/emotional health challenges, physical limitations, epilepsy, recent surgery, or other mental or physical health challenges, you may want to check with your doctor before embarking on a journey with cacao and/or breathwork. If you are experiencing mental or physical health challenges or are taking an antidepressant, please be responsible for your own integrity and well-being, and please contact Anu through his Hummingbird Circle website to inform him of your condition before this ceremony.
