Meet MEGAN O'ROURKE in Bridgewater - Democrat for Congress
Details
RSVP here for exact location (free) Megan O'Rourke, native of Blairstown, worked as a top climate scientist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture before resigning earlier this year amid Trump's rebuke of environmental policy and is now making a principled decision to run for office in the district she grew up in. It's important to research (and preferably meet) all the candidates before the Primary Elections on June 2nd (early in-person voting available May 26th - May 31st). Remember you must declare a party affiliation (dem or rep) to vote in the primary. You can always switch back after the election and before the General Election in November.
A native Jersey girl, Megan O’Rourke is the youngest of four children in a working-class family. Megan went on to become a leading climate and agricultural scientist. For five years, she directed climate change programs at USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), leading nearly $200 million annually to support farmers, researchers, and rural communities confronting the realities of a changing climate.
Her scientific leadership was matched by her commitment to workers. As a Union Steward with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Megan championed the rights of her colleagues, ensuring they could fully exercise protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
In 2023, Megan expanded her public-service expertise as a Brookings Fellow and senior advisor to Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, gaining firsthand experience with the legislative process and learning how practical, bipartisan solutions take root in Congress.
