Join us to walk along a beautiful stretch of the South Downs, from Hassocks to Lewes.

We will meet at Brighton train station at 10:15 to get the 10:28 train to Hassocks. You are responsible for getting your own ticket. If you are meeting us at Hassocks, we should arrive there at 10:38 (be aware, this is not a circular walk).

This is the route we will then walk:
Google maps: ROUTE
The hike is about 10 miles and is estimated to take about 3 hours 40 mins.
We will start by heading south along a track next to the railway before cutting southeast through Clayton and up to the iconic Jack and Jill windmills. We will then follow the South Downs Way all the way to Lewes. The route goes along the crest of the South Downs, giving incredible views. We will go past well known vantage points such as Ditchling Beacon and Black Cap before descending into historic Lewes via Landport Bottom. We will stop somewhere along the way for lunch, so please bring some food with you. Out of respect for other attendees (and animals!) please ensure all the food you bring is vegan ๐Ÿƒ

Once in Lewes, you have the choice of either staying for a drink in one of Lewes' lovely pubs, or catching the train back to Brighton.

Trains to Brighton go once every 10-20 mins, and you are again responsible for getting your own ticket.

The hike includes a fairly steep ascent at the start. Please bring suitable clothing (be prepared for rain and wind) and suitable footwear for the conditions. Sunset is at 4pm; we should be finished by then but please bring a torch encase we aren't! Also, bring water, and of course vegan snacks.

Any questions, please contact James (not that one, the other one ๐Ÿ˜œ ) on 07946237195. All attendees will be expected to adhere to our code of conduct, which can be found here.
