Product Engineering In The Ethereum Ecosystem | Jamie Rumbelow, Fei Labs

Details
Smart contracts are exciting, presenting a new computing paradigm which offers technical challenges under new and varied constraints. But they make up only part of the total stack of technologies required to build meaningful experiences and solve meaningful problems. In a contemplative and philosophical talk, Fei Labs product engineer Jamie Rumbelow describes the role of the product engineer in web3, and argues we should raise its relative status. He discusses a series of ways in which building the technology around the smart contracts – from frontends and user interfaces to data pipelines and tooling – is similarly constrained by the new computing paradigm that smart contracts offer, and talks about the importance of product engineering for the broader goals of the movement and for any specific company building in the space.
