Brighton Jungian Psychology Meetup

Come along and meet interesting and likeminded folk in a lovely pub in Brighton. We have the upstairs function room reserved for our group.

Anyone with an interest in Carl Jung and his work is welcome to come along and chat with likeminded people. No specific knowledge or expertise required. In the past we have had a diverse mix of therapists, psychologists, coaches, general enthusiasts, curious beginners and more.

The topic for this session is UFOs: what was Jung's psychological take on sightings of flying saucers and aliens? How might it relate to the mythology of earlier ages?

Jungian Meetup regular Trud will give a short presentation to inspire our conversations in small groups, with opportunities to move around and meet different people.

The main meetup lasts for about 2 hours or so, but many people stay around later to drink and socialise further.

The topic for this session is the Yijing (I Ching), the ancient Chinese system of divination and philosophy which originated over 3000 years ago. Jung wrote a foreword to the western translation of the text by Richard Wilhelm, and was fascinated by the synchronistic psychological meanings present in the readings produced by the divination process.

These aspects of the shadow side of human nature are reminders of some of the most destructive behaviour we experience from people in everyday life. Relevant things to consider as we approach Halloween and the darkest season of the year.

The topic for this session is active imagination, Jung's process of engaging in a waking fantasy state that included extensive dialogues with different parts of himself. Like dreams, he saw this as a way of integrating unconscious contents and becoming more whole.
