About us
Purpose:
This group is an attempt to understand the models in detail starting from scratch.
Why behind purpose:
AI is being used/misused at scale.
Currently the world is focussed on how to use it, its short comings and ramifications.
But how are computers able to tackle something like language - once considered a prime domain for a human mind?
AI appears esoteric. And seems like a daunting task to learn how it works.
Current Problem some of us face:
In an attempt to learn we face following struggles
1. Motivation the decays
2. Do we have the relevant background skills to understand it?
3. Videos /online lectures and books all assume a certain background level. Those are either too complex or too high level.
History:
I faced the same struggles and then I started a community 2 years back in Perth where I would spend 2 hours fortnightly to share what I have learnt and grow together.
Then I moved to Brisbane.
In Perth and here in Brisbane, I have been hosting fortnightly workshops under establish meetup groups.
This is now our own independent group.
A bit about me:
Professionally, I am a contractor who works in data science/machine learning/visualization space across many industries.
