About us

Previously named : "Bristol Data Science and Machine Learning Study Group"

Updated: 08 March 2026

We meet in person fortnightly.

We are a friendly group that offer peer support and an opportunity to learn and discuss topics relating to Data Science and Machine Learning. This is a place where you can find/build peer mentoring/coaching, get hands-on experience with machine-learning methods and explore best practices.

What we typically try to do is one of the following:

  1. Build something: Technical demo walking through building a mini-project, to demonstrate a DS/ML method or tool.
  2. Project Presentation: Members are encouraged to present current projects, blockers, or ideas.
  3. Subject discussions: An opportunity to present, discuss and share experience with regard to relevant topics (eg Performance, Security, MLOps etc)
  4. Tool Demos: Demos and discussions of core tools relevant to DS, ML, AI.
  5. Paper Club: Read and discuss a recent or significant paper/article.

If you have a proposal for a session, we'd be very happy to hear from you.

Bring along a friend, and a laptop too!
