What we’re about
Hosted by Maria Fernandez Garcia from Healing Weeds. We meet in parks and open spaces for scenic walks across Bristol, the aim of this group is to create a community of Bristol foragers and to share knowledge on the traditional uses of local herbal medicine and native edible plants!
All levels welcome!

See all- [summer plums] Wild Plants of Rodway CommonMangotsfield School, BRISTOL£6.00
PLUMS - we went to this location a few years ago and found some delicious plums, everything is a bit early this year so hope we can still catch some but maybe we'll also find other berries too!
Open to all, as always, whatever your experience of foraging so far, this is a community for people who want to meet to walk together, make new friends and learn new things.
What to expect: we'll walk around Rodway Common and then down to the Former Mangotsfield 1869 Railway Station on cycle path. We'll see what plants are on the common as well as in the hedgerows. We'll have lots of opportunity to chat, ask questions, share knowledge, recipes and experiences.
What to bring: I'll bring a step ladder, bring yourselves and everything you'd need for a relaxed walk; tupperware if you like, some water, a notepad, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes.
Travel: we'll meet at outside Mangotsfield School, Rodway Hill, there is free parking outside there and the Bristol-Bath railway path is really nearby too if you wanted to come up that way. The number 7, 48x, 49x and 49 go nearby with a little walk on the other end. There aren't many bike racks to lock up bikes or but there are some fences/ railings around. Any questions about this, let me know!
Accessibility: we will be on paths around the paths on the common and then move downhill towards the cycle path and plums! We'll move as is suitable for everyone, plenty to see everywhere! Please get in touch if you are unsure and we can adjust.
Safety and community care: to keep everyone safe, please do not attend if you are actively infectious with a cold, cough or other illness. Bristol Foraging Group is a neurodivergent, trans-inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly space in nature, all are welcome.
If you aren't able to cover the cost, let us know , we have bursary spaces available for you, especially for trans and global majority foragers, no questions asked!
Refunds: ** Swaps preferred over refunds - if you can't make it on the day, you're welcome to exchange your space for another date you can attend in future, just get in touch to swap over.
