This group aims to create a community of Bristol wild plant + nature lovers who share knowledge on the traditional uses of local edible plants and herbal medicine.
We meet in parks and open spaces for relaxed walks across Bristol. All levels welcome, no experience necessary!

Seaweed searching [Sand Bay, Weston-super-Mare]
Sand Bay Car Park, Sand Bay, Weston-Super-Mare, GBSeaweed! Let's find some! And share a picnic on the beach.

Optional meeting points/ travel to Sand Bay:
1) 09.45am - Bristol Temple Meads (BTM) station (to catch the 09.55am train from BTM to Weston-super-Mare
2) 11.00am - Weston-super-Mare station (to catch the 11.04am open top - number 1 - bus to Sand Bay)
3) 12pm - Sand Bay at 'Sand Bay Fish & Chips and The Cosy Cafe' (above number 1 bus arrives 11.34am but we'll stay around there)What to expect:
12pm: start at Sand Bay (bring lunch or buy lunch at The Cosy Cafe, Crookes Ln, Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare BS22 9XB)
12.15pm: wander across the beach, find seaweeds, draw them and learn about them!
2pm: eat lunch - shared/ byo/ cafe lunch!
3pm-ish: head back to Weston-super-Mare station via bus or walk!Travelling back:
Bus people could probably get 3.45pm train to BTM.
Walk people (60-90mins) likely able to catch the 4.45pm train to BTMWhat to bring:
- train ticket if joining on the train
- bus ticket we can get at Weston-super-Mare
- everything you'd need for a windy beach walk like tupperware (or bag-for-life), water, a notepad, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes, packed lunch if you don't want to buy from cafeTravel:

Accessibility: we will be on buses and trains all which will be wheelchair accessible.
On the beach: a flat path runs parallel to the beach, allowing visitors with limited mobility to enjoy views of the bay without navigating the sand.
On-the-sand limitations: the beach is composed of sand, shingle, and occasional patches of soft sand or mud. There is no permanent beach matting installed to roll directly onto the shore.
Facilities: Public toilets (requiring a small 20p coin fee) are located near the car park area on Sand Road/Beach Road. Please get in touch if you are unsure and we can adjust.Safety and community care: to keep everyone safe, please do not attend if you are actively infectious with a cold, cough or other illness. Northern Slopes: searching for plums, elderberries, hawthorns (+ recipes)
Northern Slopes, St Barnabus Church, Daventry Rd, Bristol BS4 1DQ, BRISTOL, GBLet's find the fruits hiding in the trees! We're exploring a new location to see how many trees we can find (and how many fruits we can reach).
We'll learn about lots of other wild plants and fungi, and spend time finding berries and fruits to collect and learn how to use them easily in recipes at home.
Open to all, as always, whatever your experience of foraging so far, this is a collective space for people who want to meet for walking together, making new friends, sharing thoughts and learning new things.
What to expect:
6pm - meet at the entrance outside St Barnabus Church, Daventry Rd, Bristol BS4 1DQ. We will take a stroll round Northern Slopes to see the what other seeds, nuts and berries are starting to grow on trees and bushes. We'll have lots of opportunity to chat, ask questions, share knowledge, recipes and experiences.
7.30pm - take berries home!What to bring:
- everything you'd need for a comfortable time outside like water, a notepad, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes
- tupperware or a jar if you'd like to take home any fruits or other plants we findTravel: the meeting point is outside St Barnabus Church, Daventry Rd, Bristol BS4 1DQ. The number 16, 74 and 45 buses all stop nearby. We'll start and end at the same spot.
Accessibility: Wheelchair access is limited due to sleep slopes. The most accessible entrance is where we will meet, but the steep hills means this is not wheelchair accessible. If you need additional access adjustments, let us know and we can do our best to adjust [maria@healingweeds.co.uk]

Becca is leading us in a seaweed cyanotype workshop. We'll also share a picnic lunch on on the beach.

Wildlife Moth Morning (Windmill Hill City Farm)
Windmill Hill city Farm, Phillip Street, Bedminster, Bristol BS34EA, GBA morning of meeting moths that depend on edible plants.
Last time we met the plants that moth. and caterpillars lovee, this time we're meeting the moths themselves as they emerge in the morning.
Expect to see new colours, shapes and textures as we unbox our overnight moth trap, revealing the beautiful and surprising moth species that were flew in while we slept. We'll also learn about the edible medicines these moths love too. Check out Charlie + Willow at BS3 Moth club.
Open to all, as always, whatever your experience of foraging so far, this is a collective space for people who want to meet for walking together, making new friends, sharing thoughts and learning new things.
What to expect:
(Windmill Hill City Farm's wonderful cafe will be open for from 9am for any pre-moth fuel, and after we finish for brunch)
09.30am - we will meet at Reception at Windmill Hill City Farm and walk to their Wildlife Garden. Address is: Philip Street, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 4EA (some free parking in surrounding residential roads). We will delve into moth identification and have cups of tea whilst learning about the flowers, leaves and trees that moths love in the city. We'll have lots of opportunity to chat, ask questions, share knowledge, recipes and experiences.What to bring:

The farm has have accessible toilets and some areas of the farm are wheelchair accessible. However, some paths get muddy, so we cannot guarantee access at all times.
