Sun prints of seaweed! [Sand Bay, Weston-super-Mare]

Seaweed + sun prints - this time we're printing their shapes using the sun!

Becca is leading us in a seaweed cyanotype workshop. We'll also share a picnic lunch on on the beach.

Optional meeting points/ travel to Sand Bay:
1) 10.30am - Bristol Temple Meads (BTM) station (to catch the 10.45am train from BTM to Weston-super-Mare
2) 11.00am - Weston-super-Mare station (to catch the 11.35am open top - number 1 - bus to Sand Bay)
3) 12pm - Sand Bay at 'Sand Bay Fish & Chips and The Cosy Cafe' (above number 1 bus arrives here at 12pm)

What to expect:
12pm: start at Sand Bay (bring lunch or buy lunch at The Cosy Cafe, Crookes Ln, Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare BS22 9XB)
12.15pm: wander across the beach, find seaweeds, learn about them and make cyanotype prints!!!
2pm: eat lunch - shared/ byo/ cafe lunch!
3pm-ish: head back to Weston-super-Mare station via bus or walk!

Travelling back:
Bus people could probably get 3.45pm train to BTM (catching 3.12pm bus from Sand Bay).
Walk people (60-90mins) likely able to catch the 4.45pm train to BTM

What to bring:
- train ticket if joining on the train
- bus ticket we can get at Weston-super-Mare
- everything you'd need for a windy beach walk like tupperware (or bag-for-life), water, a notepad, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes, packed lunch if you don't want to buy from cafe
- a bag to carry back your cyanotype print!

Accessibility: we will be on buses and trains all which will be wheelchair accessible.
On the beach: a flat path runs parallel to the beach, allowing visitors with limited mobility to enjoy views of the bay without navigating the sand.
On-the-sand limitations: the beach is composed of sand, shingle, and occasional patches of soft sand or mud. There is no permanent beach matting installed to roll directly onto the shore.
Facilities: Public toilets (requiring a small 20p coin fee) are located near the car park area on Sand Road/Beach Road. Please get in touch if you are unsure and we can adjust.

Safety and community care: to keep everyone safe, please do not attend if you are actively infectious with a cold, cough or other illness. Bristol Foraging Group is a neurodivergent, trans-inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly space in nature, all are welcome.

If you aren't able to cover the cost, let us know , we have bursary spaces available for you, especially for trans and global majority foragers, no questions asked!

Refunds: Swaps preferred over refunds - if you can't make it on the day, you're welcome to exchange your space for another date you can attend in future, just get in touch to swap over.
