Let's explore the edible + medicinal mushrooms of Oldbury Court because the rain has meant they're appearing already!
We're going to be led by Max and Maud, two beautiful mushroom (and nature) lovers, with plenty of space for others to contribute, as always. Expect to touch and smell some of these mushrooms, learn about their properties and how to use them in cooking.
We'll also learn about lots of other wild plants we see on the way.
Open to all, as always, whatever your experience of foraging so far, this is a collective space for people who want to meet for walking together, making new friends, sharing thoughts and learning new things.
What to bring:
- everything you'd need for a comfortable time outside like water, a notepad, comfy clothes and sturdy shoes
- notepad if youd like to take notes or draw. or a jar if you'd like to take home any nettle seeds or other plants we find
What to expect:
3pm - meet at Oldbury Court car park (there is free parking on Oldbury Court Rd, Bristol, BS16 2JH). We will take a stroll round the park to see the what fungi are starting to grow on trees and in the ground. We'll have lots of opportunity to chat, ask questions, share knowledge, recipes and experiences.
Travel: the meeting point is Oldbury Court car park at the end of Oldbury Court Rd, Bristol, BS16 2JH. The number 46, 47, 48x, 49x all stop nearby + a 14min walk down Oldbury Court Rd. We'll start and end at Oldbury Court car park.
Accessibility: Oldbury Court has a mix of grassy and concrete paths, we can keep to the footpaths as much as possible, adapting our walk for any wheelchairs and walking aids with no problem. Safety and community care: to keep everyone safe, please do not attend if you are actively infectious with a cold, cough or other illness. Bristol Foraging Group is a neurodivergent, trans-inclusive, LGBTQIA+ friendly space in nature, all are welcome.
