Hidden Gems - Manhattan Summer Streets

This is the second in the Hidden Gems ride series. Today we will take advantage of the city's SUMMER STREETS program, which provides for a vehicles-free route from the Brooklyn Bridge all the way north to Dykeman Street in Inwood. We will meet at Brompton Junction (287 Bleecker Street) at 11 am. Wheels up at 11:30 am sharp. Our route will take us east on Bleecker Street to Lafayette Street, where we will head north on the SUMMER STREETS route. We will ride north as Lafayette becomes Park Avenue. We will ride on Park Avenue north to 71st Street, where we will stop and regather for the return route back to the Junction. There will be other points where we stop to regather, which we will share when we brief you before the ride.

If you would like to continue riding north on Park Avenue to take advantage of the continuing car-free environment, feel free to do so, but please alert the ride leaders that you are departing when we stop at 71st Street.

Upon returning to the Junction, we will fold our Brommies and store them there and walk to another hidden gem, Emack & Bolio's (272 Bleecker Street), for some post-ride ice cream.

This ride will be approximately eight miles in total. It is categorized as a "chill ride," meaning it is for beginners and will proceed at an easy pace. Note that we will be sharing the SUMMER STREETS with other cyclists and pedestrians, so it is important to proceed slowly and cautiously.

Because of limited space at Brompton Junction at the end of the ride, we are limited to 25 riders.
