What we’re about
All tomorrow's parties.
So many talented indie rock bands in Brooklyn, so little time. Let's discover some of the up and coming local bands together, chat about our latest musical crushes, and just hang.
You obsess on discovering a new indie rock band that feels yours. You believe that post punk rock is not dead. The conflicting emotions of listening to a scrappy sound system or a band missing a beat makes you feel alive. The intimacy of a dark, damp, stinking DIY back room is your happy place. You feel rewarded in moist skinny jeans.
Or you simply enjoy live music and occasionally jumping/dancing around!
And not least, you think it's more fun as a gang.
The spirit is to go to at least one gig per month, maybe catch up for drinks or food beforehand to discuss latest discoveries. Focus is generally on garage rock, punk, post punk, alternative rock, psychedelic, shoe-gazing, surf rock, ethereal, but let's keep an open mind for anything that the indie Brooklyn scene has to offer. And of course, we will also venture across the bridge to Manhattan and other boroughs when the music compels us!
To give you a feel, gigs are generally sourced out of the ohmyrockness.com blog. New bands are discovered mainly from Band Camp. Venues include anything from Alphaville, Sunnyvale, Union Pool, Silent Barn, Trans Pecos, to Baby's All Right and Music Hall of Williamsburg.
