What we’re about

Hi, non-fiction writers

I'm starting my second writers group. You join a group like this to get eyes on your writing. It helps you get out of your own way, freeing you up to send your best work out. I've had 5 memoir pieces published and I'm now sending short stories out to the Pushcart Prize-winning publications list. I now serve as a prose reader (and sometime feedback editor) on The Passengers Journal and www.cagibilit.com.

Each week, members will read, write and talk about memoir -- creative non-fiction or personal essay.

The group will be 6 or 7 writers at most. Each meeting will last an hour and a half. In the first half hour, we'll discuss the craft, and talk about work that has gotten us into a corner and how we wrote our way out of the issue. (Or not.) The second hour is to go over the work (typically 7 pages at most) that we posted in the designated Google Drive the week before. Writers meet having read the work of the others and are prepared to speak to it.
