What we're about

We <3 BK

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, & Intersex Brooklynites have traditionally crossed over the bridge to Manhattan seeking the gay community. In 1996 several Brooklynites looked to create a new opportunity, whereby local organizations, businesses, friends and supporters of equal rights for all could come together in solidarity and celebration and bring visibility to the multi-cultural gay community in the borough. A new organization was founded – Brooklyn Pride, Inc.

Over the years, Brooklyn Pride has grown to become the largest and most prominent organization serving Brooklyn’s LGBTQI+ community. Although Brooklyn Pride’s primary mission is to produce the borough’s annual pride events, the organization actively works to bring pride year round to every Brooklyn neighborhood.

Brooklyn Pride is a 501(c)(3) wholly volunteer-managed, tax-exempt, non-profit organization working for and on behalf of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex Brooklynites as well as all others who support the struggle for equality of this community. In the spirit of Stonewall, Brooklyn Pride welcomes the participation of all the residents of Brooklyn and the outer boroughs, regardless of age, creed, gender, gender identity, HIV status, national origin, physical, mental or development disability, race religion or sexual orientation.

Brooklyn Pride is a proud member of the International Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Coordinators (InterPride), a not-for-profit organization that provides support to over 200 groups that plan Pride events around the globe. Brooklyn Pride is also a member of Northeast Regional Pride (NERP), an association of Pride committees in the Northeast. Basic Info Founded1997

Brooklyn Pride, Inc. invites you to join us for a night of eating, drinking and community building at our next Dine with Pride event. Weather permitting, we can even get out onto their back patio. Sidecar will donate a portion of their proceeds for Tuesday, March 5th to Brooklyn Pride. We are so happy to be able to work with local LGBTQIA businesses. Please support all of our partners, and thank them for supporting Brooklyn Pride!

A Taste of Fifth is a great opportunity to dance the night away or simply enjoy the company of friends and neighbors and catch up on the latest doings on the greatest avenue in the Slope.

Volunteer Orientation

• What we'll do Brooklyn Pride is having a volunteer orientation to help explain what each of the volunteer roles entail. Already signed up to volunteer? Wonderful! Thinking about volunteering with us but unsure what you want to do? That's great too! Already signed up and what to volunteer more at other events? YES!!! There will be some paperwork to sign - basic consent forms and emergency contact information, so be aware of that. Otherwise, just bring yourselves, and maybe a friend that you can convince to volunteer with you. The more the merrier!
