The BrumAI Postgraduate Showcase is one of our flagship events that aims to highlight the exceptional achievements of current AI postgraduate students and recent graduates of AI MSc programmes through live (in-person) presentations.

Online streaming

Event overview
Competition - MSc graduates or MSc students from all AI-related disciplines are invited prior to submit their projects for consideration. Finalists from this selection process will be invited to present short (5-minute) summaries of their work.

Linking Academic Research to the AV Industry: KTPs and Beyond - James Heaton

Speaker Bio: James Heaton is a Machine Learning Engineer at Aurrigo, a Coventry-based company providing AV solutions across the globe. Aurrigo design and manufacture a wide range of autonomous systems, from autonomous passenger shuttles to airport baggage handling vehicles. Aurrigo had a successful IPO last year and has opened offices in Singapore and Canada.

With a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering, James studied towards his MSc. in Artificial Intelligence at the University of St. Andrews where upon completion he began a KTP at Aston University, partnering with Aurrigo. The KTP was extremely successful, and resulted with James being offered a full-time role at the company where he continues today, developing Machine Learning solutions for autonomous vehicles.
