The weather forecast for Sunday has improved over the last days. Therefore, I am last-minute suggesting a hike for Sunday.

On this hike we will explore several forests of the Flemish Ardennes, a region at the south of the East-Flanders province, close to the border with the French-speaking part of Belgium.

From Zottegem we will take the bus to Opbrakel, a small village with immediate access to nature. We will follow the border of Flanders and Wallonia towards Ronse. On the way we expect to see the typical autumn colors in the forest. We will cover at least three majors forests in this area: Brakelbos, Pottelbergbos and Muziekbos. We end our hike in Ronse with a local beer.

We meet on Sunday at 9h15 on Bus platform 1 of the railway station of Zottegem. We will take the bus together at 9h27 to Opbrakel, where we arrive 9h53. If you start from Brussels-Central, you should take train IC 2331 direction Kortrijk at 8h33. You arrive in Zottegem at 9h12.

We finish in Ronse. There is a train every hour, with a change in Oudenaarde. The journey back to Brussels takes a bit more than one hour.

Members labelled “go-with-the-flow” will be admitted from the waitlist during the final 24 hours. I use this label after a previous no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours without a good reason.
