What we’re about
BSDG, or Boise Software Developer’s Group, is the longest-running developer meetup in Boise (20+ years). BSDG is a technology agnostic development group. We try to cover a wide range of technology topics on various platforms. This includes .net, Java, Ruby, Python, ObjectiveC, JavaScript, and others. We also love to talk about more high level topics like design patterns, best practices, architecture and the like. BSDG is a great place to learn from expert developers and discover talent in the Boise area.
We meet on the second Tuesday of every month.
P.S. If you’d like to volunteer to help keep BSDG running by being a speaker or sponsoring us (or if you just really want to say hi) reach out to Alysa at alysa@pineconegrove.com.
We're looking for feedback! Please fill out this survey to help improve our group. https://forms.gle/M3WiAGHh7kj7xRWd6
We are excited to introduce Cameron Eagans this month! He's an experienced full-stack software engineer and technical leader with over 15 years of experience. He has worked on a handful of the largest properties on the Internet, and his open source projects have been downloaded over 45 million times.
Deciphering Distributed Consensus
Explore the fundamental concepts of distributed consensus algorithms in this one-hour introductory talk designed for technical enthusiasts. Delve into the problems that these algorithms solve, from ensuring data integrity in distributed databases to maintaining fault tolerance in critical systems. Gain insights into the inner workings of popular algorithms like Raft and Hashgraph, and uncover the trade-offs involved in their design. Whether you're a seasoned engineer or simply curious about the coordination magic behind distributed systems, this session will equip you with a solid foundation in the world of distributed consensus. Join us to unravel the mysteries of consensus, its real-world applications, and its role in shaping the future of modern computing.
Oct. is sponsored by Hedera. Hedera is an open source, leaderless, proof-of-stake, public ledger built by a diverse council of industry-leading organizations, including: Avery Dennison, Boeing, Chainlink Labs, COFRA Holdings, DBS Bank, Dell, Dentons, Deutsche Telekom, DLA Piper, EDF, eftpos, FIS (WorldPay), Google, IBM, Indian Institute of Technology, LG Electronics, London School of Economics, Magalu, Nomura Holdings, ServiceNow, Shinhan Bank, Standard Bank Group, Swirlds, Tata Communications, Ubisoft, University College London, Wipro, and Zain Group.
