# Bodhi Day (Jōdō-e) Celebration & Potluck

Please join us at Shingyozan Kosen-ji for a special service celebrating Bodhi Day (Jōdō-e), the enlightenment of Śākyamuni Buddha.
Bodhi Day commemorates the Buddha’s awakening beneath the Bodhi tree and the beginning of his teaching of the path to liberation from suffering. It is a time to reflect on the Buddha’s wisdom, compassion, and the possibility of awakening in our own lives.
Our celebration will include a traditional Nichiren Shū Buddhist service, chanting from the Lotus Sutra, recitation of Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō, and a Dharma talk.
### New to Buddhism? You’re Welcome!
No previous experience with Buddhism or Buddhist chanting is necessary. You are welcome to participate, listen, or simply observe.
Our doors open at 9:00 AM, an hour before the service begins. First-time visitors are especially encouraged to arrive early to meet members of our Sangha, ask questions, and become familiar with the temple.
Children and families are warmly welcome!
### Holiday Potluck
Following the service, we’ll gather for a community potluck and fellowship.
Please bring a dish, snack, dessert, or beverage to share if you’re able. Bringing food is not required to attend.
