This workshop will start with a brief explanation of the Feldenkrais Method. Please bring your own mat to lie down for the second lesson, if possible. Bring layers if you get cold easily.

The Feldenkrais Method of somatic education is a gentle movement modality developed to improve people’s movement and heal acute/chronic pain. It uses the brain and body’s innate ability of learning how to move and heal by creating new neural pathways through sensory awareness in movement. Everyone has developed movement patterns and habits that influence their ability to move with ease.

The Feldenkrais Method creates a context for people to become aware of their movement patterns and habits through gentle, mindful series of movement. In lessons, we can discover new and easier ways of moving that reduce strain and effort that is helpful to your unique system instead of imposing a way of moving or holding yourself. Our movement is meant to feel good and easy.

Because of this, Feldenkrais reaches nearly everyone of all ages and abilities- athletes, musicians, dancers, actors, infants, pregnant women, elderly, people with chronic pain, injury, a disability or degenerative condition and more. Every moment of our day we are moving in some way. That is what the Feldenkrais Method is improving, your ability to move.
