denkmallab: Heritage Escape #01 – Eisenhüttenstadt
Details
I'm planning a day trip to Eisenhüttenstadt this August, and if anyone would like to join, you're very welcome.
Rather than sightseeing, I enjoy exploring places slowly—walking, observing, taking photographs, sketching, or simply experiencing the atmosphere without rushing. I started denkmallab as a way to discover architecture, landscapes, and cultural heritage through quiet, shared experiences.
For this first denkmallab Heritage Escape, we'll visit one of Germany's most fascinating examples of post-war urban planning. We'll walk from the station through Eisenhüttenstadt's historic residential districts and public spaces, continue towards the Oder river landscape, and return through quieter neighbourhoods. Along the way, there will be plenty of time to stop, take photos, have a coffee, or simply enjoy the surroundings.
This isn't a guided tour, and there isn't a packed itinerary. It's simply a relaxed day out with people who enjoy architecture, design, photography, history, nature, or slow travel.
- Meeting point: S Ostkreuz, Platform 13
