📚 Photography Changes Everything Book Club – Session 1

Details
Welcome to Session 1 of the Bushwick Film Photo Club Book Club—a new slow-reading, image-loving series hosted at Bushwick Community Darkroom.
We’re working our way through Photography Changes Everything, a collection of short, powerful essays about how images shape our world. Each session we’ll read and discuss just one essay, so it’s super low-pressure and super high-reward.
Whether you’re a practicing photographer, a lapsed artist, or just curious about why pictures feel like spells—this group is for you.
We'll be sharing pdf's of each essay 24 hours before each session to everyone that has RSVP'd but we highly encourage everyone to spend $10 at Abe books & get their own copy of this incredible collection.
### 📖 This session’s essay:
“Photography Changes What We Want”
A reflection from editor Marvin Heiferman on how photography alters our desires, aspirations, and attention.
We’ll send the scanned essay to all RSVP’d participants a few days before the event.
***
### 🌀 Format:
- Chill conversation circle, no pressure
- Optional: bring a photo (analog or digital) that connects with the theme
- Tea, snacks, maybe wine. We’ll see what the budget allows.
***
### 🎟️ Free with RSVP
Space is limited to keep it cozy. Please RSVP to receive the essay and hold your seat.
