BVGT playdate and "Ask Anything" session at Arapahoe Ridge Park (Boulder)
Details
Time to explore! Our penultimate summer event features counselor Catherine Zakoian at this amazing park in North Boulder for an "Ask Anything" meeting with the grown-ups and a great playground and natural rock features for the kiddos.
The complexity of parenting gifted children requires a great deal of range. Join gifted counselor, consultant, and author Catherine Zakoian for a gifted parenting “Ask Anything” event where we will explore your questions pertaining to supporting your gifted children well. Learn or remember you are not alone. Leave this living laboratory with ideas, support, resources, and new connection points.
Long-time friend of BVGT, Catherine Zakoian, MA, LPC, NCC, is a national board certified and licensed professional counselor. For over twenty years, her Colorado-based private counseling practice www.catherinezakoian.com has specialized in child and family counseling services for gifted, twice-exceptional (2e), and profoundly gifted children, adolescents, teens, adults, and families. Her educational consultation practice provides guidance for creating psychologically healthy educational environments, authentic leadership and program development, and meaningful educator self-awareness and care within well recognized public, independent, and alternative PreK-12 schools serving gifted and neurotypical populations. Her newly published book: Raising Gifted Children: A Practical Guide for Parents Facing Big Emotions and Big Potential (Rockridge Press, 2020) has received a warm welcome in the gifted field.
Everyone is welcome, whether or not their children have been officially identified as "gifted and talented" and regardless of where they attend school (BVSD, other district, private school, home...). Plus, you do not have to be a member of Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT) to participate! (Of course, if you appreciate these offerings and would like to get involved with this awesome nonprofit education advocacy group, we'd love to have you! Click here to join BVGT.)
I'll also bring a sampling of the BVGT lending library--including Catherine's recent book, Raising Gifted Children--to the remaining playdates for attendees to browse. (BVGT members are entitled to borrow books to take home.)
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
