What we’re about
Are you interested in connecting with other families with gifted students? Whether or not your children have been officially identified as "gifted and talented" (GT), we would love to share resources, answer your questions, and provide engaging opportunities for your kiddos to interact with other GT kiddos.
Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT), a nonprofit organization that supports GT families, students, and educators, hosts playdates and other activities throughout the year for students of all ages (and their grown-ups), with opportunities to play board games, do STEM activities, share favorite books, go on a nature scavenger hunt, do arts and crafts, take tours, and more! BVGT playdates take place at libraries, parks, community centers, and other locations around the district.
This meetup group is open to all families in or near Boulder County, including those whose children attend private schools or are home schooled. (Our organization is not affiliated with the Boulder Valley School District.) And you don't need a BVGT membership to attend (although we'd love it if you joined)!
Our playdates tend to be best for kindergarteners through middle schoolers. Teens who are willing to help out can receive community service credit! Their tasks might include helping set up and clean up, greeting guests, playing games with younger children, encouraging them to build or create something, and talking to parents about their experience as a gifted student.
Questions? Suggestions? Want to help plan and/or run a playdate? Want to arrange to volunteer? Please contact Sarah at [sdodson-knight@bvgt.org](mailto:sdodson-knight@bvgt.org).

See all- BVGT Playdate at Lafayette Nature CenterLafayette Nature Center, Lafayette, CO
Join us for the first BVGT (Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented) playdate of the summer at the Lafayette Nature Center! We'll play and chat and explore Coal Creek. Around 10:30, we'll walk over to the Coal Creek Trail. (You might want to bring shoes that can get wet and a towel if your children tend to wade into creeks!) Restrooms and a water fountain are available on site.
Students of all ages (and their grown-ups) are welcome, whether or not the kiddos have been officially identified as "gifted and talented" and regardless of where they attend school (BVSD, other district, private school, home...). Plus, you do not have to be a member of Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT) to participate!
Our playdates are best suited for grades K-8; high school students who wish to volunteer and receive community service credit should contact Tylynn to sign up at tbrick@bvgt.org. Teen volunteers will play and talk with younger children so that their grown-ups can converse with each other with minimal interruptions.
BVGT board members will be on hand, eager to share relevant resources, answer questions, and discuss what we've learned about raising and educating gifted children. We'll also bring a sampling of the BVGT lending library for attendees to browse. (BVGT members are entitled to borrow books to take home.)
