In the tradition of the Parisiancafe philosophique, Byronites meet bi-monthly to consider ideas presented by a guest speaker.
Topics range from public concerns such as What is Democratic Leadership? Are Legal Ethics Really Ethical? to the more philosophical – What is Real? How Do We Know? How Do We Speak About What We Know?
We're brought together by a love of thoughtful enquiry. Like the flaneur or city-stroller, an observer of the commodity-obsessed marketplace, we saunter through ideas, absorbing their taste, their aroma. Opinion counts less than considered thought, and disagreements are embraced. Our café becomes a ‘dome of thought’ under which we gather in the hope of a breakthrough, a hint of an awakening….
