What we’re about
Events organized by C2 Kyoto, a café/hackerspace located near the Gojo/Karasuma train station.
C2 Retro Gaming Night - an event where retro-computing lovers can chat, have a beer, and play on authentic old-school hardware. Usually the last Saturday of the month.
C2 Makers Meetup - An event for those interested in making things. (Games/apps, robotics, art, etc.) Chat with other creators as well as share your own creations.
C2 Gamedev Meetup - Similar to Makers Meetup, but focused on just one thing: Indie game development. Hang with other devs, see and show your stuff.
C2 Kyoto Riichi Mahjong for beginners - What can we say, Akiko loves Mahjong and will get you addicted too, so be careful.
C2 Board Game Lovers - Let's get-together and play some fantastic board games in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We also sometimes host community-focused events organized by others like the Kyoto web Designers and Developers Meetup and Kansai Rust.
Stay updated on events by following us on twitter.
C2 is owned and run by Seth and Akiko, hit us up if you have any questions.

Love board games? Well, let's get-together and play some fantastic ones in a relaxed and friendly environment!
Note: This is on a Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM!
Fee: One drink minimum - we're loose and not really keeping track, but please support the event by buying a drink roughly every two hours or something. (note: currently we're only able to accept cash payments)
Can I bring my own food/drink?
No, sorry. Please don't bring in outside food or drink. There will be a menu with beer & wine as well as healthy non-alcoholic options. All sales support this event.
There probably won't be any food options so please plan to eat before or after.
Do I have to be there exactly at the starting time?
Nope! Feel free to come late or come and go as needed. This 4-hour time window is somewhat experimental, a way to be more flexible for people's schedules. Or, if you're playing a really long game... well, four hours might be a must.
What if I sign up but later can't make it?
No problem, but please mark yourself as not-attending, if anyone is on the waiting list, they will get automatically moved to the attending list.
What board games do you have?
We have 100+ popular board games. See pics to get an idea. You're more than welcome to bring your own as well.
What language are your board games?
99% of our games are the English versions. While English tends to be the most popular language at our events, we absolutely welcome people of all languages and will do our best to help everybody have a good time. (and try to recommend the perfect game for any specific group!)
Looking for players for a specific game?
In addition to asking around at the event itself, feel free to use the comment system here to gauge interest as well. It might allow other players of a like-mind to watch some youtube tutorials of your favorite game so they can be prepared!
It's too loud and/or I need more space!
Check the 2nd floor, there is a big table up there!
Beware of Google maps being wrong!
There are two addresses in Kyoto with our address (different postal code), so if you type the address into Google/etc make sure it's the one that's a few blocks from Gojo station. To avoid problems, search for "C2 Kyoto" instead - or click the map on this page, or visit www.c2kyoto.com which has a map as well.
Notes and misc:
Code of conduct: Be nice! If you have any questions or problems find Seth or Akiko.
Allergy warning: We have a friendly cavalier named Ten-chan.
Bicycle parking available. (just park 'em anywhere on the driveway in front of our building) Non-smoking.
Please be considerate of noise levels if outside, for our neighbors’ sake. Better to chat inside the building than out on the street. (We've never had complaints, but want to keep it that way!)

- C2 Gamedev Meetup (May)C2 Kyoto, Kyoto
What is this and who is it for?
This event is for indie game developers (or anyone into gamedev) to hang out, chat, share their work & see others' stuff too.
Get that thing you're working on into a presentable state and bring it! Use this event as a friendly motivator to get stuff done. (We have tables and power outlets to set your stuff up)
Note: This is on a Friday at 6 PM!
Fee: Free
Can I bring my own food/drink?
No, sorry. Please don't bring in outside food or drink. There will be a menu with beer & wine as well as healthy non-alcoholic options. All sales support this event.
(note: currently we're only able to accept cash payments)
We usually order a pizza or two and sell it by the slice around 8 PM, if you'd like some, just throw your cash in the cup (make your own change if needed, we trust ya) and grab a slice. You can use the toaster oven and condiments if needed.
Do I have to be there exactly at the starting time?
Nope! Feel free to come late or come and go as needed. This is all pretty relaxed. As if anyone can control indies.
What if I sign up but later can't make it?
No problem, but please mark yourself as not-attending, if anyone is on the waiting list, they will get automatically moved to the attending list.
Will there be talks/presentations?
YES! If you have a gamedev related (very short) presentation that you'd be kind enough to prepare and give, please drop us an email at c2kyoto@rtsoft.com - tell us what it's about, and how long it will take and we can let you know if it will work on our side for this event.
We're looking for around 5 minutes, but this could be a bit longer if need be. We'll aim the presentation portion of the night around 7 to 8 PM.
NEW - "PROJECT TRAILERS"
We'd like to loop some game related trailers (think 10 to 30 seconds) of YOUR projects on a tv at least some of the time, so if you have something fresh you want people to get eyes on and get curious about (doesn't have to be finished) please send us the video in advance and we can add it to the list.
Keep in mind audio will not be heard most of the time for these videos, so use text for names/credits/URLs etc. This is just kind of a thing happening in the background. We've never done this before so kind of experimental.
