What we’re about
Events organized by C2 Kyoto, a café/hackerspace located near the Gojo/Karasuma train station.
C2 Retro Gaming Night - an event where retro-computing lovers can chat, have a beer, and play on authentic old-school hardware. Usually the last Saturday of the month.
C2 Makers Meetup - An event for those interested in making things. (Games/apps, robotics, art, etc.) Chat with other creators as well as share your own creations.
C2 Gamedev Meetup - Similar to Makers Meetup, but focused on just one thing: Indie game development. Hang with other devs, see and show your stuff.
C2 Kyoto Riichi Mahjong for beginners - What can we say, Akiko loves Mahjong and will get you addicted too, so be careful.
C2 Board Game Lovers - Let's get-together and play some fantastic board games in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We also sometimes host community-focused events organized by others like the Kyoto web Designers and Developers Meetup and Kansai Rust.
Stay updated on events by following us on twitter.
C2 is owned and run by Seth and Akiko, hit us up if you have any questions.
Upcoming events (3)
See all- C2 Indie Creators: Code, Games, & Electronics (June)C2 Kyoto, Kyoto
Note: This is on a Saturday at 6 PM! (Doors open at 5:30)
Fee: Free (but we sell food/drinks, please don't bring any from outside)
What is this and who is it for?
This event is for people into making games, apps, and DIY electronics projects. Let's chat and share our stuff in a relaxed environment.
Share the love of making stuff and the help each other reach farther.
Who is this NOT for?
Please don't come just to sell products to attendees or primarily to talk about scam-adjacent things like NFT/crypto/MLM type stuff.
Can I bring my game/art piece/2000 lb. robot installation and set it up at a table?
Yes! Get that thing you're working on into a presentable state and bring it. Use this event as a friendly motivator to get stuff done.
If you need anything special for your setup that you don't want to lug over, contact Seth, we probably have one.
I don't make stuff/I have nothing to bring and show off, can I still come?
Sure! It's also fine if you're new and just want to learn more about working on stuff like this, we're a pretty dang welcoming bunch.
Will there be talks/presentations?
SOMETIMES!
On that note, if you have a (very short) presentation related to our meetup theme that you'd be kind enough to prepare and give, please drop us an email at c2kyoto@rtsoft.com (or message us here or twitter or anywhere) and tell us what it's about, and how long it will take and we can let you know if it will work on our side for this event.
We're looking for around 5 to 10 minute per micro-talk/presentation. (exceptions can made though) We'll aim the presentation portion of the night at 7 to 8 PM if we have any brave souls this month.
Do I have to be there exactly at the starting time?
Nope! Feel free to come late or come and go as needed. This is all pretty relaxed. As if anyone can control indies.
What if I sign up but later can't make it?
No problem, but please mark yourself as not-attending, if anyone is on the waiting list, they will get automatically moved to the attending list.
Can I bring my own food/drink?
No, sorry. Please don't bring in outside food or drink. There will be a menu with beer & wine as well as healthy non-alcoholic options. All sales support this event.
(note: currently we're only able to accept cash payments)
Beware of Google maps being wrong!
There are two addresses in Kyoto with our address (different postal code), so if you type the address into Google/etc make sure it's the one that's a few blocks from Gojo station. To avoid problems, search for "C2 Kyoto" instead - or click the map on this page, or visit www.c2kyoto.com which has a map as well.
Notes and misc:
Code of conduct: Be nice! If you have any questions or problems find Seth or Akiko.
Allergy warning: We have a friendly cavalier named Ten-chan.
Bicycle parking available. (just park 'em anywhere on the driveway in front of our building) No parking for cars, but there are many pay parking spots nearby.
Non-smoking.
Chatting on the street: Please be considerate of noise levels if outside, for our neighbors’ sake. Better to chat inside the building than out on the street. (We've never had complaints, but want to keep it that way!)
Photo Policy: Please respect everyone's privacy by refraining from publicly posting unblurred photos of attendee faces without their permission. Some individuals prefer not to have their faces scanned by bots and AI, as it can disclose their whereabouts on specific dates, which can be a bit creepy these days.

What board games do you have?
We have 100+ popular board games. See pics to get an idea. You're more than welcome to bring your own (and hopefully teach us to play!) as well.
What language are your board games?
99% of our games are the English versions. While English tends to be the most popular language at our events, we absolutely welcome people of all languages and will do our best to help everybody have a good time. (and try to recommend the perfect game for any specific group!)
It's too loud and/or I need more space!
Check the 2nd floor, there is a big table up there.
