SPECIAL MEETUP: Big Data, Docker, and Apache Mesos

Details
This month we're partnering to present a very special meetup at Pinterest HQ. This meetup features Pinterest's own Roger Wang joining forces with Connor Doyle (from Mesosphere) and Bernardo Gomez Palacio (from Guavus) to talk about the ins and outs of Pinterest’s logging infrastructure and Apache Mesos. The team can’t wait to share their insights and hope you’ll join them. There will be plenty of food and drinks on hand, too.
IMPORTANT: You must register at the Discover Pinterest Event (http://discoverpinterest.splashthat.com/mesosphere) page.
Here is the full event program:
Logging Infrastructure at PinterestRoger Wang, Pinterest, Software Engineer
Pinterest’s new high performance logging agent, Singer, plays a crucial role in the production pipeline. It ships logs from application hosts to a single place, promptly and reliably. When an application writes logs to a disk, Singer picks them up, parses the files and sends them to a central repository. It includes pluggable readers and writers that support different log formats and destinations, it works well with Kafka and provides at-least-once delivery guarantees for log messages.
Deploying Docker Containers at Scale with Mesos and MarathonConnor Doyle, Mesosphere, Software Engineer
The norm these days is to operate apps at web scale. But that’s out of reach for most companies. Deploying Docker containers with Mesos and Marathon makes it easier. See how they help deploy and manage Docker containers at scale and how the Mesos cluster scheduler builds highly-available, fault-tolerant web scale apps.
Scaling Big Data with Hadoop and MesosBernardo Gomez Palacio, Guavus, Senior Software Engineer
As a company starts dealing with large amounts of data, operation engineers are challenged with managing the influx of information while ensuring the resilience of data. Hadoop HDFS, Mesos and Spark help reduce issues with a scheduler that allows data cluster resources to be shared. It provides a common ground where data scientists and engineers can meet, develop high performance data processing applications and deploy their own tools.
A few things to note:
• Doors open at 6 pm, the first speaker begins at 6:30 pm.
• After the presentation, enjoy food, drinks, and conversation with like-minded engineers.
• We're located in the SoMa district. It's a 10 minute walk from Caltrain. Metered street parking is available as well as parking lots at 635 8th St and 675 Townsend St.
• If you bike, there are racks outside our building (don't forget your lock!).
Remember, you cannot register on this Meetup page. You must register on the Discover Pinterest (http://discoverpinterest.splashthat.com/mesosphere) event page
