Subject: Go SWE-Agent!
In early March, Cognition AI captured the tech community's attention by unveiling Devin, "the first AI software engineer." This introduction sparked considerable interest and led to the open-source community's rapid response, which produced various alternatives, such as the SWE-agent.
Our forthcoming presentation will examine this technological advancement from a different perspective. Rather than demonstrating how to employ these tools in software development, we aim to uncover the underlying mechanisms that empower the SWE-agent to achieve a 12.29% score on the SWE-bench. We plan to explore the agent's implementation, how it interacts with its environment, and the strategies it employs to correct coding errors generated by large language models (LLMs).
This exploration will not only shed light on the SWE-agent's operational intricacies but will also offer a glimpse into the future possibilities of AI-powered development tools. Our objective is to provide a deeper understanding of these innovative technologies, contributing to the broader conversation on the evolution of AI in software engineering.
