Some information about Reiki:
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) is a healing technique, just like yoga, massage, or acupuncture. It is simple, natural, safe, effective and non-invasive. Reiki is a Japanese technique that utilizes the fundamental energy that animates all life—Universal Life Force Energy, also known as Ki, Chi, or Prana.
Reiki energy works by flowing down through the practitioner where it is concentrated and focused in their hands. The energy is then directed to the recipient. It is a gentle yet powerful energy. The recipient might feel heat, tingling, or sense a warm, peaceful glow inside of them. Others may see colors, and others may not sense anything at all. Either way, the energy works whether one senses it or not and works whether one believes in it or not. Sometimes, people become so relaxed that they fall asleep during the session.
Reiki is totally non-invasive, and the recipient remains fully clothed. Traditionally, a practitioner will place their hands on the recipient and leave them there for a period of time and then move on to another area of the body. While most people enjoy the feeling of healing hands upon them, some prefer to have practitioners work 3-4 inches above the body, in the field of the aura, without touching the body at all. It is your choice. And it is your choice if you prefer to be seated, reclining on a padded Reiki table, or even to receive Reiki remotely from a distance while you are in the comfort of your own home. You do not even need to be present to receive a Reiki treatment, for Reiki is energy and it defies the laws of time and space.
Reiki treats not only the body, but the whole person, including the mind, emotions, and spirit. It is widely known to reduces stress, pain, anxiety and depression. It also improves sleep, digestion, relaxation, and relationships; promotes sleep, well-being, healing, self-awareness; accelerates recovery from surgery; supports recovery from substance abuse; reduces side effects from radiation and chemotherapy; heightens intuition; and it is safe for people, animals, and plants of all ages. It truly is universal.
