What we’re about
this is for people who relate to each other through reading or doing
hacking
biohacking
social sciences
natural sciences
humanities
new media art
engineering
technology
mathematics
statistics
data science
code
etc
in multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary, cross-functional, intersectional, and hopefully fun ways.
you can be an expert or a complete beginner, it doesn't matter. every event is an excuse to explore something we don't know together. jump in, have fun.
it's a new group. i'm making stuff up as i go along. feel free to throw up ideas, facilitate, and host events. let's see what happens.
code of conduct
lots of nuance in this stuff, isn't there? let's use this one from pydata as an example for now.
notes
this group is too focused on internet-related things for now because that's my bias. if more people join and bring their own biases we could have some lively diversity.
hackers and biohackers are not criminals. we're so open we put ourselves on open lists and invite everyone to visit:
for goodness sake. the bad eggs are called attackers, not hackers.
Upcoming events (1)
See all- Participatory curation with Indonesian poetryTrollesundsvägen 3, Bandhagen
In this session, we read some poems and see what we can learn about them and the worlds behind them by curating an open and free-form digital exhibition together.
The poems
The poems are random ones from Deviant Disciples, an anthology of Indonesian women poets, from Tilted Axis' Translating Feminisms series.
They might include Hanna Fransisca's Taiwan in the Pool of My Eyes. It talks about the sale of women for marriage and work. Here's her page on Indonesian Wikipedia.
Or maybe an excerpt from Zubaidah Djohar's Siti Khalwat, which talks about violence from the moral police and the community in Aceh. Wiki.
I liked Rosa Herliany's Sinta's Elegy, which provides a much needed feminist counterpoint to the Ramayana. Maybe I'm biased here because I love localised SEAsian versions of this epic. Wiki.
I'll probably put these up on a screen or give you a link when you arrive.
We will read them and look up things we don't know together. There's so much. I only just found out a ladle I used all the time back in SEA is called a gayung. I haven't even looked up Singkawang yet.
Participatory curation
We'll co-curate a digital exhibition using Miro or diagrams.net. This should help us learn from each other, about the poems, about the worlds behind the poems, etc.
We'll play it fast and loose. Open, free-form, experimental as usual. Themes, objects, artifacts, etc are up for discussion. Let's see where this goes.
Housekeeping
My place in Bandhagen, 1 min from the station. DM me for exact address. Feel free to suggest another place if you don't like Bandhagen.
Bring whatever snacks and drinks you want.
You don't have to be on time.
