Café Français is not a traditional class—it's a salon. Every session, a maximum of 8 advanced French-language speakers gather for 90 minutes of rich conversation guided by Brigitte, a native speaker who loves ideas as much as you do.
No textbooks, no homework, no grades.

### La mer vue par les peintres 🌊🎨
Vous aimez l’art et parlez déjà bien français ? Venez échanger, observer et débattre autour de la mer vue par les peintres.
Que voyez-vous lorsque vous regardez un tableau ? Voyons-nous tous la même chose ?
À partir de quelques œuvres de Boudin, Hokusai, Sorolla et d’autres artistes, nous parlerons de la mer, de la lumière, des couleurs, des émotions… mais surtout de ce que vous voyez et de ce que vous en pensez.Pourquoi un artiste choisit-il une mer calme et un autre une mer menaçante ? Quelle œuvre vous attire? Laquelle vous laisse indifférent ? Et pourquoi ?
Pas besoin de connaître l’histoire de l’art. Ici, les tableaux sont avant tout une invitation à parler, échanger et exprimer son point de vue.
Cette rencontre s’adresse aux personnes ayant un bon niveau de français (B2/C1) qui souhaitent enrichir leur vocabulaire, exprimer leurs idées et retrouver le plaisir d’une vraie conversation en français.

Do you love art and already speak French? Come observe, exchange ideas and debate — in French!
What do you see when you look at a painting? Do we all see the same thing?
Through works by Boudin, Hokusai, Sorolla and other artists as our starting point, we’ll talk about the sea, light, color and emotion — but most importantly, what you see and what you think.
Why does one artist choose a quiet sea while another depicts a threatening one? Which painting draws you in? Which one leaves you indifferent? Why?
No knowledge of art history is required. The paintings are simply an invitation to talk, exchange ideas and express your point of view.
This conversation is designed for people with a strong level of French (B2/C1) who want to expand their vocabulary, express themselves more naturally and enjoy a real conversation in French.

I’m Brigitte, a French language teacher, mixed-media artist and passionate traveler. I’ve taught French to adults for over 20 years and divide my time between the U.S. and the south of France. I love bringing art, culture and travel into lively French conversations.
