Tobogganing @ Lions Festival of Lights
Details
“Happiness is fresh snow and a sled.”
If you've never driven by, walked around, or better yet, tobogganed amongst the massive annual Lions Festival of Lights in Confederation Park, you're in for a quintessential "Canuck" experience! The Festival is now 99% "green" and is comprised of over 650,000 bulbs on 25,000 strings and almost 4 km of power cords! The Festival has been organized by the community service organization, Lions Festival of Lights Society, for 39 years now. (I read that this just might be the LAST year they'll do it...)
Tobogganing / sledding is one of the best things about winter as it just makes you feel like a kid again, and is a SUPER FUN way to work off our holiday caloric excesses. (If you don't have a sled, a large piece of cardboard can do the trick, but I'm sure those of us who have a sled would be happy to share.) :-)
Let's first meet up just inside the display entrance along 24th Avenue NW where I'll treat you to some yummy hot chocolate. Then we'll take a leisurely stroll around the park to check out the AMAZING holiday themed light displays. Finally, we'll make our way up the relatively short, yet fast hill to begin our tobogganing FUN amongst the beautiful lighted trees and holiday displays.
“Nothing screams fun more than these two words: sled & holidays."
