Live "Speakeasy" Jazz @ Betty Lou's Library

Following is an email I received the other day:

"Hi Leanne. We don't know each other but I saw your event listed at Meetup.com for the "Live Tribute to the Legends of Jazz" at Prohibition Lounge this weekend. I'm reaching out to invite you to an event on Wednesday, June 3 at Betty Lou's Library. I'll be performing with my new band, Kizuna Trio, from 7-9 pm. We are a speakeasy trio that performs songs from the masters (Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc).

Rewind to the Prohibition Era when alcohol was banned but the party never stopped. Underground (literally & figuratively) speakeasy bars were booming where the flappers were dancing the Charleston and the illegal drinks were always flowing. Take a step back in time when you walk through the Betty Lou's Library hidden door and then take a seat in a vintage velvet chair or sofa, enjoying the authentic Speakeasy ambiance, (legal) craft and vintage cocktails, and live jazz entertainment.

Betty Lou's Library has been voted as one of Canada's top bars! Sip, savour, socialize, and swing (in your seat) in this unique space that marries the American 1920’s Prohibition era with Paris’ Lost Generation.

DRESS CODE
- Betty Lou's Library has a super swanky Speakeasy vibe, so please dress appropriately (i.e. "Roaring '20s", "classic cocktail", or "business casual").
- NO jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, or ball caps, please. :-)

WHEN:
- Wednesday, June 3
- 6:45 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
- We NEED to enter together as a group in order to be seated at our table for our 7:00 reservation, so let's meet inside their lobby between 6:45p - 7:00p.

WHERE:
Betty Lou's Library
908 - 17 Avenue S.W. (The Devenish Building)

Find the north-east entrance, then walk down the stairs where we'll meet up as a group before entering the Speakeasy via the secret password (that'll be communicated to me the day of...).

PARKING:
FREE street parking available in the Beltline area after 6:00 p.m.
(Be mindful of residential parking permit-only zones)

TICKETS / BILLING:
- FREE (is normally $10)
- I have reserved a table for six.

SOME CONSIDERATIONS:
- As the event date approaches and you find out later you can no longer attend, if you are either on the Attending List or the Wait List, please revisit this Meetup page and change your RSVP to Not Attending.
- "No Shows" (those that sign up but then don't show up) will be noted. Please respect other members who are on the Wait List that want to attend.
- If you are running late or otherwise need to contact the event organizer, please post a message in the Comments below.
- If you are feeling ill, please do not attempt to participate. Stay home and get better.
- Be respectful to others and observe personal boundaries. This includes the venue staff.
- If there are any concerns with another member's behaviour, let the event organizer know so this can be dealt with immediately.
