Main Performer: Steve Poltz (US)
Zany, lovable, unfiltered, ferociously talented and on point but off kilter, Haligonian Steve Poltz is everybody’s instant new best friend and every entertainer’s role model for his bravura performances that trade set lists and safety nets for spontaneity, hilarity and high wire improv. His ability to carry all this off is built on a foundation of prodigious song-writing that has earned him the respect and affection of industry peers such as Jewel. A breath of fresh air on the Alberta music scene, Jonah Morris and Maria Khaner are a young duo with an earthy, accessible sound built on lush, soulful harmonies, an indefinable alchemy and charm that oozes from the stage. Jed and the Valentine captured the hearts of festival audiences in Alberta and caught the attention of CKUA with their 2024 debut, awake!, filled with playlist-ready songs that on first listening are already old favourites. Main Performer: Connie Kaldor (QC)
If there are any honours Connie Kaldor CM has not already earned in her glittering career in Canadian music, they’re probably waiting in her mailbox. Order of Canada, Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, Honorary Doctorate, multiple JUNOs, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Woodstock Folk Festival, the only thing missing is my coveted Nobel for Mediocrity. But if you think that by now she would be resting on her laurels, you’d be wrong. Her prolific studio output in recent years sees her continuing to explore the meaning and mythology of Canadian prairie life on releases like Wide Open Spaces. Born into Canadian folk music royalty, Gabriel Campagne has forged his own path plying talents he comes by honestly. Steeped in espresso, cabaret culture, back alleys and the ethnic melting pot of Montréal, he studied classical voice at McGill University and writes in both French and English. After fronting the band Les Barricades, he now intersperses his solo career with occasional family gigs. Main Performer: The Black Feathers (UK)
Making their second appearance at the Club, The Black Feathers formed in 2012 when Sian Chandler and Ray Hughes transitioned from collaborating as band members and playing covers to writing original material. Their musical synergies span traditional British influences, Americana, contemporary folk and even a hint of goth, all wrapped in spine-tingling vocals and effortless alchemy. The breakthrough album Soaked to the Bone (2016) scooped up multiple awards in the UK and launched them as a touring act beyond their native England and Ireland. The way they tell it, Calgary’s Cold Little Crow is a five-piece, angst-folk, alt-roots band. It’s a rare honour for artists to be invited to the Club twice in eighteen months, but that speaks to the waves Christie Lenée created on her debut in March, 2025 with Katie Marie. Continuing to celebrate her sixth album, Coming Alive, the award-winning singer-songwriter-guitarist returns to wow us with her thrilling acoustic guitar and inspiring, uplifting songs. If you’re wondering why Andrew Allen, a neighbour from Vernon BC, is not on the folk music radar screen, you’re not alone. He built a career as a consummate pop songwriter who is signed to Sony/ATV and has released many singles, including a collaboration with Carly Rae Jepsen. Pivoting to deliver keynote concerts with character-driven songs in a deeper, more mature style, he is a solo performer whose moving lyrics will command your attention.
