Calgary native and a favourite son of the club, James Keelaghan needs little introduction to Canadian folk music fans. He built a nation-wide audience in the 1990s with a slew of albums full of story songs that reconstruct history and reimagine justice (“Cold Missouri Waters” and “Kiri’s Piano” are two memorable examples), earning a JUNO award along the way for his album My Skies (1994) and collaborating for a time with Oscar Lopez. James went on to become Artistic Director of the Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival in Owen Sound in 2011, but has continued to perform and record. Mia Kelly is a bilingual singer-songwriter from Gatineau with a knack for channeling her raw, vulnerable emotions into expertly crafted songs. Nominations, laurels and awards are already piling up on the strength of her first album, Garden Through the War (2022), including two Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2024 and recognition in the form of Canadian finalist at the 2023 Jeux De La Francophonie. miakellymusic.com
