NOTE: Hike Difficulty - Moderate - This hike is just a walk - a longer distance, but nothing technical.
NOTE: Weather and Hike Day - All hikes are subject to being moved to a different day, depending on the weather and trail conditions.
Monday forecast is looking clear after the weekend snow. Let's go out and enjoy a hike up Ribbon Creek!
Trail Details
Distance: Approx. 18 km (Out-and-Back)
Elevation gain: Approx. 350 meters
Time: Approx. 4.5 hours
Trail Description: From the parking lot, we will start walking along the Ribbon Creek trail. We will cross a few bridges in the first section of the hike. The middle section has some mini-canyons and waterfalls. Past the mini-canyons, we will gradually ascend the upper valley to Ribbon Falls. We will enjoy the views and the falls and retrace our steps to the parking lot. We will take as many breaks as needed along the way.
RECOMMENDED GEAR & SUPPLIES
-microspikes - expecting some snowy/icy patches on the trail
- waterproof shoes - expecting lingering wet snow on the trail
- hiking poles - useful on steep slopes and while descending
- sunglasses
- cap/hat
- sunscreen
· Clothing - Early Spring - Light or Medium wool clothing is recommended, along with a windbreaker or light jacket. Cotton clothing is not good. Jeans are not good.
- light gloves
· personal first aid kit
· snacks/lunch
- water (recommend 1-2 litres)
Ride Sharing:
Suggested Ride-Sharing spot: Petro Canada at the corner of Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 22x - Upper Gravel Road Parking. Feel free to coordinate your own ride sharing spot as required.
