Rick Rayburn: Poetry
Details
CWC Sacramento Networking meeting will host Rick Rayburn for a breakfast gathering at Denny's College Town Drive.
Rayburn's poetry recalls sitting alone with Clint Eastwood, fording Mendocino coastal terraces, the black silence of species extinction, smudge pots under orange blossoms. Attendees will learn finding themes, subjects to write lively poems; finding your voice, favorite poets and readers; review of key resources, growing your work, types of poems, ghazal to golden shovel, and form on the page; editing your work.
Rick Rayburn has resided in Altadena, Arcata on Humbolt Bay and Sacramento Valley. He worked as a redwood ecologist and land preservationist. Retired, he started writing poetry studying under Sacramento's finest teachers--Josh McKinney, Bob Stanley, Susan Kelly-Dewitt, Bethanie Humphries. Published books include Under the Overstory (2020), Slack Tide (2023), Pink Tercets (2025), Royal Crown Sonnets (2025)
