zThis regional park offers 50 acres of natural open space that is suitable for horse back riding, wilderness exploring, hiking, or other environmentally friendly activity. Visitors can access a number of local trails from this park. Two equestrian riding areas are available, with a training area.

The beautiful Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens is 33-acres of natural terrain encircled by the city of Thousand Oaks. The best botanical garden ever due to its natural habitat. Free admission.

From the sweeping vistas at the peak of the Garden through fifteen unique, hillside specialty gardens, and onto the hiking trail along the riparian stream, the Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens is a destination not to be missed.

Park on Angler Court or across Spinnaker Drive in the public parking lot. Entrance to the settling ponds area is through a gate here; the gate is typically locked until 8 a.m.

Yellow-crowned Night Heron, pelicans, cormorants, ducks, mergansers, herons, grebes, sparrows, warblers, Hutton’s Vireo, gulls, swallows, swifts, and terns.

The Cypress Tree Trail starts at the SW corner of Lucy Pond and wraps around the backside of the pond. Named after the tree it leads to, this is a good area to find warblers and migrating rarities in spring and especially in fall. The island in Snoopy Pond is the best place to view Yellow-crowned Night Heron in Ventura County.
About this Place
These are man-made beds used to collect water discharged from the wastewater treatment plant. There are three main ponds. Bone Pond is the most western of the group and the closest to the beach. Gulls and other more typically ocean birds like to gather here and bathe. Snoopy Pond (named after its shape) is the middle pond that you first approach on the trail. This pond has an island in the middle and a narrow neck connecting the two bodies. Herons and egrets love to roost on the island. Lucy Pond is the farthest from the entrance.
