About us
Cambridge City Green is a small group of volunteers that leverage dozens of other groups and thousands of individuals in Cambridge, Ontario to "be the change they want to see in the world." City Green is composed of volunteers who develop, host, and support community environmental projects like tree planting through the Cambridge Stewardship project, litter clean ups through the Community Clean Up, and forest walks, native seeds give-aways, workshops, and movie nights. City Green has been around since 1993 and is an action-oriented subcommittee of the Cambridge Environmental Advisory Committee of Council. Cambridge City Green initiated the Cambridge Stewardship project in 2007 and over the next 10 years 75+ groups and 3,000+ volunteers planted 10,000 indigenous trees, shrubs, and wildflowers at 30 sites during 100 planting events. Every year 3000-5000 individual volunteers and 50+ groups help clean up litter through the Cambridge Community Clean Up. Each year we develop new environmental projects depending on the interests of the City Green volunteers. Four Bloom in Boxes to choose from: Shade, Balcony, Sun, Rain Garden
Native flowering plants are a great way to add beauty and interest to your garden, while offering birds and pollinators valuable sources of food and habitat throughout the year.
There are four types of Bloom[in] Boxes available for purchase, each suited to full sun, part-shade, or rain gardens with a new addition this year suited for container growing. Each Bloom[in] Box is designed with a complementary selection of native plants that will attract birds, bees, and butterflies to your yard throughout the growing season. Each kit is designed to cover an area of approximately 2 square meters apart from the Bloom[on the balcony] Box.
Don’t have enough space for a typical garden? We are excited to debut our new Bloom[on the balcony] Box that is suitable for smaller gardens, temporary rentals or creating a native plant oasis on your balcony.For more information, be sure to look at the bio for each kit to determine which one is best suited for your space and growing conditions.
