Webinar on Bee Diversity and Identification

Details

Most of us are aware of honey bees and common native bumble bees, but did you know that there are more than 900 bee species across Canada? Join us for an upcoming Bee City Canada webinar to learn about the hundreds of native bee species that call Canada home.

REGISTER IN THE LINK BELOW, NOT THIS MEETUP SITE. THIS POST IS FOR INFORMATION FROM ANOTHER ORGANIZATION.

In this webinar, Anthony Colangelo, Pollinator Partnership Canada's Outreach and Education Specialist, will dive deep into the world of bees. He will discuss bee diversity and life history (including how bees have evolved), introduce the seven bee families, teach you how to distinguish between some common bee groups, and will even show you how to tell whether the insect you're looking at is actually a bee and not a wasp or fly. There may even be a quiz at the end!

The information presented in this webinar is a part of Pollinator Partnership Canada's Pollinator Steward Certification program. If you're interested in learning more about the diversity of pollinators and how you can support them, you can learn more about the program here.

This webinar will be hosted on Zoom at 1:00pm EST on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025.

Please note that this webinar will take place in English.

Registration for this webinar is free, and we invite you to share the registration link with anyone you know that's interested!

If you have any questions, please email Jordan Phelps at [jordan@beecitycanada.org](mailto:jordan@beecitycanada.org) and he will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope to see you there!
