Hello and welcome!

Billions are being spent to make AI smarter, with new capabilities emerging every month. How long do we want this to continue? Do we want AI to become smarter than us?
It is increasingly likely that it will, and we think that AI smarter than humans will be a disaster for humanity. 

Top AI experts have been sounding the alarm for a while now, including Nobel and Turing Award winners, and the leaders of AI companies themselves. It presents a genuine risk of extinction.

The recent OpenAI/Hugging Face incident has shown that AI capabilities are advancing faster than our capacities to control them. This is concerning!

But we believe there is hope in ControlAI's proposed solution of an international ban on the development of superintelligent AI. So far, they have briefed over 400 lawmakers in the UK, US, Canada and Germany. Here in the UK, over 150 politicians have already signed their extinction-risk statement. Recently. Alex Sobel MP introduced a bill to prohibit the development of superintelligent AI, and more than 70 politicians so far supported his letter to the Prime Minister, urging the government to act now.

We meet twice a month to learn, discuss, and coordinate actions that raise public and political awareness.

Our activities include hosting discussion groups and workshops, organising public information tables, speaking with local representatives and supporting national efforts to stop the race to superintelligence.
