We are once again returning to my (OUR) beloved big water! What better way to kick-off Fall! This is always such a fun weekend. The time to reserve lodging is NOW. You can always cancel if you change your mind later, but these places fill quickly.

The Let's Play Outside Meet-Up Group will also be promoting this event.

THURSDAY: On your own or plan on joining the campers at Gooseberry for shared campfire time.

FRIDAY:
1:30 p.m.
From Gooseberry Visitor Center, hike the Falls loop hike (just over an hour). We are meeting just outside the Gooseberry Visitor Center.

Happy Hour and/or dinner on Friday at Crossings (Cove Point) in Beaver Bay or you can opt for dinner (reservations required) in the restaurant at Cove Point.

Campfire at Gooseberry - Site to be determined. Hoping to snag the shelter with the tables so we can play games.

SATURDAY:
10:30 a.m.
Meet at Tettegouche Visitor Center, located at 5702 Highway 61 East (19 miles NE of Gooseberry State Park}

2.8 mi Length, 393ft Elevation gain, 1–1.5hr Estimated time. Out & back
Hike Description from All Trails: The Baptism River Trail features three breathtaking waterfalls, including the highest waterfall in Minnesota, which reaches a height of roughly 70 feet. These waterfalls provide picturesque vistas. The wide, well-kept trail, with its many wooden walkways and staircases, makes climbing easier. Above the falls is a suspension bridge. Several lookouts along the walk offer various perspectives of the impressive waterfall, especially after rains. Hikers should be ready for a muddy and slippery section of the trail.

Optional and/or add-on: From the visitor center, hike along the lakeside cliffs to the end of Shovel Point for soaring views over Lake Superior and rock climbers in action.

Some folks have indicated interest in a trip up to Grand Marais to experience their fun mini golf course.

Happy Hour and/or dinner on Saturday will again be at Cove Point Crossings.

Please don't RSVP for this event unless you are serious about attending. A wait list will quickly develop and we'll keep you posted and updated as we move forward. When you RSVP, please verify that you have secured reservations or are planning on a campsite.

Hiking start times are firm. Sometimes there isn't cell coverage at Gooseberry so there won't be a way to let me know you will not be able to be on time.

Lodging Information Everyone is on their own for lodging. See some suggested options below.

CAMPING? Most of our campers are hoping to reserve sites at Gooseberry State Park. Split Rick Lighthouse State Park and Tettegouche State Park are other options but our evening bonfires will be at Gooseberry.
