What we’re about
Looking for new dog friendly walks around Canberra but don't know where to start? Canberra Dog Walks offers guided walks for dogs and their humans showcasing the best of Canberra. Generally our walks:
- last between 1 and 2 hours (3-6 km)
- provide one or more optional off leash opportunities
- start and end at a dog friendly café
- follow a loop with minimal retracing of steps
- feature interesting stuff for humans too, such as beautiful views, quirky sculptures or historic buildings.
All walkers welcome, with or without dogs. We walk at a relaxed pace for maximum enjoyment.
Please go to our FAQ page for more detailed information on our walks or message the organiser directly. Our COVID-19 safety protocols are also available on the FAQ page.
Membership of this group is free but to help cover our Meetup subscription, insurance, travel, IT and other costs we ask $7.50 from each adult participating in a walk, to be paid by card/phone to the guide at the beginning of the walk. Group members can see all income and expenses itemised on the Money page. The group is run on a not-for-profit basis with any excess funds raised donated to the RSPCA and the ACT Pet Crisis Fund.
Find out more about Canberra Dog Walks and dog-friendly Canberra on our website or Facebook page. You can see photos and view videos of our guided walks on instagram and youtube. All information about dog friendly Canberra is provided free, inspired by a love of Canberra, walking and dogs.
Important
- All walkers participate entirely at their own risk and are wholly responsible for their own and their dog's behaviour. By rsvping to a scheduled walk, you understand and agree to this condition.
- We ask that all participants follow the walk guide's directions, especially in relation to their dogs. For example, individual participants may be asked to walk their dog/s on-leash for part or all of the walk if, in the guide's judgement, it is necessary for the consideration of others in the group, or other members of the public. The guide is using their best judgement, after leading hundreds of walks with many different dogs, to ensure as far as possible that everyone has a pleasant experience.

See all- Wednesday Manuka/Griffith walk - autumn colour, off leash parks, great viewsMcDonald's, Griffith, ACA$7.50
Canberra's awesome leaf colours will be a feature on this beautiful walk in Griffith. For humans, the route wanders through pretty parks, interesting inner suburban streets and visits a little known park with superb south Canberra views. The route is based on our Manuka-Griffith walk (https://www.canberradogwalks.com.au/manuka-griffith-walk/) but adds an extra loop to make approximately 4.5 km in total.
We'll be walking on paved paths, along dirt tracks and across lush ovals. The route includes a hill climb, but it's not too taxing.
There is easy parking in Manuka (pay parking in two multi-storey carparks as well as on the street), plus free parking on nearby streets within 3 minutes walk of Manuka centre.
