Advent of Code: an introduction and a Python toolkit by Brendan Jurd
Advent of Code is a series of programming puzzles, held every year in December. The puzzles range in difficulty from beginner-friendly all the way up to utterly monstrous.
AoC is a great way to test your programming skills, learn some new tricks, or to explore a new programming language.
In this talk, Brendan will introduce AoC, and explain how it works and what kinds of puzzles you can expect to find (no spoilers, they promise!)
Brendan will also give a brief tour of the Python toolkit they've built up for myself over the course of solving 500 puzzles. The toolkit is freely available to use for your solutions, or just as inspiration for building your own toolkit.
Brendan Jurd is a software engineer based in Canberra, with 25 years of professional experience working for all kinds of customers, from tiny businesses up to massive government departments. His favourite programming language is Python, and in the rare moments he's not programming, he loves videogames, anime, reading and guitar.
