Explore a softer, more relaxed yoga that joyfully incorporates cannabis!
Whatever your experience with yoga, Ganja Yoga is an all-levels exploration of the body, mind, and breath, in a slow, groovy way. Unlike most other public yoga classes that focus on conditioning the body, Ganja Yoga focuses on relaxation, mindfulness, and journeying into altered states of consciousness. This makes it all levels and safe.

~ The artist loft is quite small (12 students), paypal $15 by Wednesday at 6pm to secure your spot. First-come, first-served at the door. We have a few extra mats, come early if you want one.
~ Bring your cannabis and way to consume it. A medical marijuana card is required or else you'll have to "enhance" before class.

I have been offering these enhanced yogic journeys as opportunities for trippy relaxation, pain-relief, and the cultivation of inner peace since 2009. I was the first Western teacher to combine cannabis and yoga! I look forward to providing a safe space and a facilitated shamanic experience that is incredibly nourishing, energizing, and beautiful, - restoring your mind, body, and spirit!

FAQ's

“Do I have to smoke ganja?”
No! – Yoga is great, whether altered or not. Sometimes students feel like using ganja to enhance their practice, and other times, having a yoga practice without ganja feels better. It’s always up to you. It's always a relaxing, blissful, interesting yoga experience, regardless of whether or not it's enhanced.

“Do we smoke there?”
Yes! By bringing your medical marijuana card, you become a "Ganja Yoga" member, and then can you can smoke (or vaporize) on-premises.

“Is smoking the best way to consume cannabis for yoga? How much should I smoke?”
In fact, smoking is the worst way to consume cannabis, in terms of health and wellness. What's good about it is that it's portable and easy to dose. So, if a pipe or joint is what it is for you, so be it. No judgments here! However, if you want to save your yogic lungs, I'd vaporize. The great thing about vaporizers is that it's a really mellow gentle high, as well as being totally healthy. Also good for a yogic body-buzz, but potentially stronger-than-you-think, are edibles. For these, I recommend making them yourself so you know exactly how potent they are (eat some a few days before class to test). Or buy from a dispensary you trust. I always recommend first-timers to yoga or these classes consume less ganja than they usually do, so the experience of yoga is enhanced. If students smoke too much, it could hinder the experience of yoga, leading to distraction, lethargy, or paranoia. Not the end of the world (as long as you're not disruptive), because you can just chill out on your mat.... but being a little less baked would probably be better. In the end, we're aiming for gently-high-but-functional.

“Is Ganja Yoga safe? What if I haven’t done yoga in a long time? (Or have never done yoga)?”
All of my classes are for for all levels, and I especially love working with beginners. However, even if you're experienced with yoga, we're not going to get into an altered state and then show off our arm balances in these classes! It's about experiencing something beautiful and trippy and cool... an introverted, relaxing experience, for all levels of experience. Think restorative and mystical, not Vinyasa flow. I skip any postures from the hatha yoga array that may cause injury. Plus, because ganja encourages you to slow down and really feel what is happening in your practice, you're less likely to experience injury because you remain more present to your body.

“Do students need a medicinal marijuana card?”
Yes please! - Or do your thing before coming.

Testimonials

The thing about Ganja Yoga with Dee is that it would be mind-blowing without the option of ganja: her instruction is highly informative and detailed without being prescriptive or restrictive. Her permissive style and holistic quality of instruction lead to finding one's own personal best version of any posture and then exploring from there. I have yet to find such guidance plus freedom in any other facilitated medium. Add to that the quality of Dee's meditative suggestions, and you've got a mind-body experience that transmutes personal limitations on physical and spiritual planes...this coming from a hypnotist with her share of fussiness around meditation and transformative promises. Finally, add to all of this the option of sharing in ganja with a community that embraces it and you've got exactly the right amount of salt to enhance what was already a most delicious meal. Dee's integrity, knowledge and compassion come together to make Ganja Yoga a practice that far exceeds the potential of any component alone.

Ganja Yoga is an awesome opportunity to connect deeply- to your own body, to other people, and to the universe. Dee's teaching facilitates deep relaxation and meditation in a comfortable, delicious atmosphere.
~ Michael

When I first heard about Dee's practice, I was curious but also skeptical. When I meet Dee, I found a really grounded, loving, awesome person with an approach that I could totally respect. She is extremely knowledgeable and I found that a practice with her could go in a lot of directions. During yoga I was not only able to go into a much deeper relaxation, I also felt completely comfortable with Dee and her guidance and acceptance with my own body. I left feeling better and more awesome than I had a long long time. Adding ganja adds a whole dimension and I'm excited to explore more with Dee!
~ Praveen

Finally yoga as it is meant to be, as done by the Shaivas and Tantras of India. Ganja can help bring about the union between the individual self and the divine. Dee provides an inviting and nurturing space for meditation and asana with sacraments that make this practice not merely an exercise routine but genuine, an introduction to our mutual divinity. Namaste.

I just wanted to express my appreciation for such a wonderful expression of love and skillful-means brought forward by Dee and her Ganja Yoga class. Dee certainly knows her stuff and gave excellent guidance during the practice which brought to my awareness new elements of myself! The combination of my past vipassana meditation integrated with my habitual use of the scared herb aided me a lot in making the most of the class. She has a great heart and it shines through.
~ Joshua

I like the atmosphere in the classes. Very much a home space yet conducive to relaxation. Every time I finish a class I see the world differently and have much more perspective than usual. Dee is an amazing, empathic and generous teacher and I would and have recommended her to others.

We enjoyed the event tremendously. You're a talented hypnotist - if I may, and I don't mean that in any way pejoratively! - You provided a great presence and light-handed control over the whole environment. I was very impressed by several of the techniques you used, explicitly or not - I think they went a long way toward the goal of divesting people of their habits and patterns without making them uncomfortable. I'm impressed by your matter-of-factly stating that you lead guided sessions; that's some serious mojo and very hard work!
~ J.

I love Dee's teaching flow... strong and sweet...leaving room for play while staying together as a group.
~ Sadie

Thanks Dee for creating the space of welcome on Sunday to practice yoga in your home! We had a really great time and your ease with different abilities -- and personalities :-) -- does not go unnoticed! Thanks for doing what you do!!
